Our in-house design team focuses on creating thoughtful, highly efficient and timber frame homes tailored specifically for your family, your way of living, and your Finger Lakes land.
Collaboration is key to designing a home specifically for you. That means getting to know you & your lifestyle is an important piece of the design journey. So we start with our Design Questionnaire, which informs us on:
Designing your home for your land. Controlling exposures, capturing the light, views, and elevation changes so that you experience the best while maximizing efficiency. Our 30+ years of designing lakefront homes in the finger lakes ensures we know how make the most of your property.
Designing your home for your lifestyle. Understanding how your family works, how you use space and would like to use space allows us to help you right-size your home.
Designing your home for your ethos. Whether you’re looking to reduce your energy bill and be climate resilient, or help our planet with carbon-sequestrating materials & Eco-considerate mechanicals, we’re here to make it happen.
Designed, crafted, and built by our teams, this home has quickly become the hub of multi-generational family gatherings. The 180 degree expanse on a point known locally as Allen's Point, allowed our design group to intentionally use the home's layout to make the most of sweeping lake views. The modified "L" shape layout positions the home to collect those views as well as links together the beach to the north with the boat dock to the south of the property.
Tucked away on a secluded piece of farm & woodlands, Larry & Nancy wanted a home with effective use of space. The house has an open living area and master suite on the main level with smaller privatized spaces. The second story has the view, with peeks to a nearby river. A screened porch on the northeast side protrudes into the woods, and a garden with apiary brings the inhabitants through the transition from field to forest.
For homeowners Larry & Jennifer, owning a timber frame home on one of New York’s Finger Lakes was a long-term goal for most of their married life together. After years of searching, they finally found the right property, purchased it, removed the existing small cottage, and called in New Energy Works to design and build their new custom home.
