New Energy Works designs high-performance custom homes that are beautiful, efficient, and made to last.

New Energy Works operates on the triple bottom line - a simple belief that people, planet, and prosperity work together to ensure a better future. Our Earth is a place we want to leave well for the next generation through buildings that are energy-efficient and enduring. That's part of why we're committed to building with wood: timber structures are long-lasting and naturally resilient, and wood is one of the few building materials that remains carbon negative throughout its lifecycle. And of course, it offers a natural beauty other materials can't.
Beyond timber, we strive for high-efficiency designs in all our projects, using techniques and materials that minimize a project's overall environmental footprint. For example, our own production facility features materials like bio-char concrete, wood fiber insulation, and recycled rebar. We partner closely with our suppliers to ensure responsibly-sourced materials.
When we take care of our people and our planet, we are more profitable. This enables us to invest in efforts that make a difference to our workers’ families and our local and global communities, creates a healthier planet, and most importantly, builds a thoughtful company that thrives on quality partnerships.
The homeowners for this project were able to harvest the majority of the 300 timbers needed from their own land, setting an impressive bar for locally-sourced materials.
Beyond the timber frame, this home uses a panelized enclosure system, which is not only efficient at maintaining internal temperatures, but reduces environmental impact during construction.
This 1,100 square foot home was designed for efficiency and longevity, without compromising on aesthetics.
The compact footprint helps to enable passive design features; the home includes net-zero levels of insulation, triple pane windows, and a high-efficiency heat pump.
Building an environmentally sound retirement home was a priority for these homeowners as they looked toward their future.
The home features eco-friendly shou sugi ban siding - a charring technique that naturally seals the wood against moisture & insects and promotes longevity of the material without chemical treatment.

We consider environmental impact for every step in the design process. Some of the ways that shows up include:

"New Energy Works did an excellent job of bringing to life our vision of a non-traditional timber frame design that takes advantage of the natural setting and solar aspect. The craftsmanship is amazing, and it’s clear that the crew takes great pride in their work."

"Over the last 10 years, we've been fortunate to use the talents of the New Energy Works team to design, build, and add elements to our Oregon coast home. The initial premier project was the design and building of the house itself. Every step of the process was a wonderful experience. Thoughtful design and amazing craftsmanship gave us our dream home."
